Our first trial is in and on the ground. One of our Cressy growers has a trial in a paddock of barley stubble where we have applied poppy mark, poppy mulch and compost, and then across these strips of amendments he has cultivated. So we effectively have 8 treatments - the 3 different amendments, plus a control, with no cultivation and then the 4 amendment treatments with cultivation to incpororate. The paddock is to be sown down to pasture and we will be measuring a range of factors including water infiltration, compaction and soil structure, soil biology and nutrients over the coming season.
